Ph. D. in Education, trained in Educational Planning from International Institute of Educational Planning (UNESCO), Paris, specialized in organizational issues in educational management, especially the multidimensional issue of institutional effectiveness, authored and co-authored five books (Quality in Secondary Education: Role of Education Boards; Effective Teaching in Higher Education; Secondary Education: The Challenges Ahead (ed.); Learning: The Treasure Within- Implications for Asia: Report of the Asian Regional Conference, (ed.), Educational Administration in West Bengal: Structures, Processes and Future Prospects),  contributed chapters in books and projects, and published several research papers on critical issues of school education as well as of higher education.
