Professor Ved Prakash

 

Prof. Ved Prakash has held eminent positions in a number of premier organizations dealing with School Education, Higher Education & Personnel Selection. In Higher Education, as Secretary, University Grants Commission (UGC),  he was responsible not only for planning & prioritizing resource allocations to universities and colleges but also for ensuring the implementation of about four dozen schemes for promotion of research & innovations in higher education. As Adviser, Education, Planning Commission , Government of India, he was actively associated in the finalization of the Tenth Five Year Plan. His contributions in the areas of Examination Reforms and Measurement & Evaluation have been widely known. In his capacity as Professor & Head, NCERT; as Associate Professor, Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, Bombay & as Joint Director, Staff Selection Commission, Government of India, New Delhi, he had been instrumental in designing multiple types of achievement & aptitude tests employed for identification of Talent at the end of Primary & Secondary stages, conduct of nation-wide Achievement Surveys & recruitment of personnel in various government organizations.

A recipient of US Fulbright Post-Doctoral Fellowship, he had been a visiting Faculty at Humanities Research Group, University of Windsor, Canada and a Guest Faculty at Harvard Institute of International Development (HIID), Harvard University, Cambridge. He also worked as a consultant for the World Bank in Kathmandu, Nepal. Prof. Ved Prakash , who has participated in several national and international conferences, has authored a number of books, articles and research papers.

Jandhyala B. G. Tilak

Ph.D. (Economics of Education) from the Delhi School of Economics; was on the research and teaching faculty of University of Delhi, Indian Institute of Education, University of Virginia and the Hiroshima University (Japan); was also on the research staff of the World Bank. He is also a Visiting Professor in Economics at the Sri Sathya Sai University; and has authored/edited ten books including Economics of Inequality in Education, Education for Development in Asia (both by Sage Publications), Educational Planning at Grassroots (Ashish), India Socio-Economic Database (Tulika)  , Education, Society and Development   (APH Publishers), Financing Education in India   (Ravi Books), Women’s Education and Development (Garg Publishing) and Financing of Secondary Education in India (Shipra Publications), in addition to about 250 research papers published in reputed journals, and in the series of working papers of the World Bank, UNCRD, IIEP, State University of New York, NCAER.  The honours and awards he received include the prestigious Swami Pranavananda Saraswati National Award of the UGC in Education for his outstanding scholarly research (1999) and Dr.Malcolm Adiseshiah Award for distinguished research contributions to development studies (2003). He is also a member of several official committees on education of the Government of India. He is the Editor of Journal of Educational Planning and Administration and is on the editorial board of several professional journals. He also serves as a short term external consultant for the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, UNICEF, UNDP, UNESCO, SDC, etc.

Harikesh Singh

Ph. D. (Education) from Banaras Hindu University. He is a recipient of the Gold Medal from BHU for M Ed. He has teaching experience of over thirty one years at the undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels and has been Professor since 1993. He was UGC Career Awardee for three years in Humanities and Social Sciences and has successfully guided the research of fifteen Ph. D. scholars. He was President of the BHU Teachers’ Association, national Vice-president of the Acharyakul (founded by Acharya Vinoba Bhave) for two years (2005-07) and Head and Dean of the Faculty of Education, BHU for three years (1999-2002). He was Vice-Chairman of the School Board of BHU and Chairman of and Vice-Chancellor nominee of about dozen committees. Prof. Harikesh Singh has also worked as Director and nodal person of the national seminars of the NCTE and AIU, and has been closely associated with UGC, ICSSR, NCERT, NCTE, and RCI. He has published more than 100 articles, research papers and book reviews, and has given resource lectures in the UGC Academic Staff Colleges of various universities. He has edited a book on ‘Parameters of Quality Research’ and is also editorial adviser to several educational journals.
